About Us

Our mission is to guide our clients through their challenging situations by engaging in open and honest dialogue in a safe environment. We are committed to helping our clients increase their self-esteem, change their behavior, to overcome their personal or relationship struggles, while maintaining a non-judgmental attitude.

A Bit About Therapy

We implement effective psychotherapy methods to instill self-understanding among clients and encourage them to adopt new attitudes and feelings towards life situations.

It is essential to keep in mind that therapy is not a magic pill or a quick fix: therapy is a healing process that necessitates participation and investment from the client and counselor alike.

But in the end, making small changes to self-defeating behavior and coping with feelings of sadness, fear, and pain can bring life-altering results.

I am a firm believer that good therapy is built on trust, collaboration, and empowerment. I aim to provide a comfortable environment for self-exploration, authenticity, and growth, where you feel supported on your journey. I value a strengths-based, person-centered approach, and have received training in a variety of modalities, such as CBT, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness.

I work closely with those experiencing anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic attacks, phobias, social skills, life transitions, self-esteem, divorce, and grief. I also have experience working with those part of the LGBTQIA+ community and those on the autism spectrum. I specialize in working with children and adolescents, but also enjoy working with couples and older adults.

I obtained my B.S. in Psychology and B.A. in Women’s and Gender Studies from the College of Charleston, and my Master of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis, where I specialized in sexual health and education. I have further developed my skills through my experience as a school social worker.

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to read this. Here’s a little bit of information about myself: I am a limited licensed counselor in the state of Michigan and have been since 2022, which is the same year that I earned my Master’s of Arts degree in clinical mental health counseling from Central Michigan University. Before that, I earned my Bachelor’s of Science degree in psychology from Ferris State University in 2016 and have worked in mental health in a variety of roles since then. I offer both in person and telehealth counseling and prefer to work with ages 16 and up.

When it comes to my therapeutic style, I believe in being genuine and present. My foundation is rooted in person-centered principles, which means I bring my authentic self into our sessions while providing you with empathy and unconditional positive regard. I also like to utilize a variety of philosophies and other evidence-based practices in order to help you reach your goals. I am adaptable and tailor my approach to you as an individual, always recognizing that you are the expert of your life. I strive to foster autonomy and insight through thought-provoking questions and alternative perspectives. Additionally, I aim to equip you with effective coping skills for life’s emotional challenges, as well as to provide a safe, reflective environment where you can explore and grow. I encourage you to experiment with what we discuss during sessions in your everyday life, discovering what resonates and sticks with you best. I’m excited about the possibility of working with you and curious to see what you might be able to achieve throughout this collaborative journey together.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Grand Valley State University and I went on to obtain my Master’s degree in Social Work at Western Michigan University. Throughout my education, I gained a passion for learning how the mind works and understanding processes and modalities for healing the maladaptive coping skills we have developed. I learned many skills to expand on the strengths of individuals and formulate personalized treatment for each client, and I strive to build on this knowledge with evidence-based practices. My experiences in mental health consist of crisis management in an inpatient mental health hospital, connecting clients to resources, as well as counseling on group and individual levels.

In my career, I have worked with a diverse population, ranging from individuals diagnosed with chronic mental illnesses, to children and adolescents seeking support, and I would like to work with all individuals seeking assistance in their healing journeys. The therapeutic approaches I use most are cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness, and motivational interviewing, among many other modalities. As a therapist, I believe my job is to teach people the strength they possess and give them the tools in order to live the lives they desire. I am available to schedule appointments virtually or in-person at our Jenison offices.

Life can be a complicated journey and I believe that therapy can help make that journey more manageable and even enjoyable. I have been in the mental health field for over 20 years providing individual and group therapies to adults with mental illness and adults with developmental/intellectual disabilities, including those on the spectrum. I have experience in helping people manage depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, thought disorders and borderline personality disorder.  I have a great deal of experience working with those who are navigating trauma, including those struggling with self-harm and thoughts of suicide.  I also have experience working with those in the LGBTQIA+ community.

In therapy, I believe that you are the expert and my role is to provide a safe and validating space for us to work together towards your goals. By listening to your thoughts, feelings and needs I am able to walk alongside you in your journey of finding hope, understanding, change and acceptance. To assist in your journey I use an eclectic approach of CBT, DBT, MBCT and motivational interviewing.  I look forward to walking alongside you on your journey.

I graduated from Central Michigan University with my masters in clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am currently a limited license counselor in the state of Michigan. I approach therapy much like I approach life: holistically. I believe that there is no “one size fits all” approach to therapy or mental health journey. As a therapist, I center my therapeutic model around each individual person and continue to follow each person’s lead. I have training in several different modalities that I use in my approach to therapy including: Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) , Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) along with Trauma Focused CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and humanistic centered therapy.
